Four drivers. One trip.
The official description supports solo play or online co-op with up to three friends: four people total, including you. This is a useful distinction when putting a group together; it is not a four-friends-plus-host mode.
Local couch co-op and split-screen are not supported according to the developer FAQ and its direct reply to a player asking about playing together on one TV. Each person should plan for their own online setup.

A friend’s checkpoint is not your checkpoint
The developer FAQ says progress is recorded individually. Each player needs to reach a checkpoint for it to count for that player; following a friend into a session does not automatically complete that friend’s progress for you.
Progress carries between single-player and multiplayer. You can explore on your own, then return to a group without treating co-op as a completely separate progression mode. This describes the announced progression model, not a guarantee about recovering an interrupted session.
A simple group habit: pause at a checkpoint and let everyone confirm it before driving on. It avoids the “we did that already” confusion when one vehicle was still back on the trail. This is our planning suggestion based on the FAQ, not a tested release-build procedure.
Crossplay is a plan for the wider release
The developer FAQ says cross-platform play is planned. However, PC is scheduled for October 2026 and consoles for 2027. A future crossplay commitment does not make a PC-to-console session possible before those console versions arrive.
If your group is split between Steam and consoles, check the later console announcements for compatible versions and actual crossplay availability before anyone buys another copy.
Before you invite the group
- Keep the group to four players total.
- Confirm everyone is using a released, compatible version.
- Use separate online setups; there is no shared-screen mode.
- Agree to wait while every driver reaches a checkpoint.
- Treat June demo footage as a preview, not the final menu guide.
We have not tested the unreleased full game. Exact invite menus, reconnection behavior, save recovery after a disconnect and launch-day network reliability remain unverified here. The developer FAQ explains the intended modes; it is not a replacement for a tested troubleshooting guide.
A few things worth knowing
How many people can play over the hill together?
Up to four players total in online co-op: you and three friends. You can also play solo.
Does everyone keep progress?
The developer FAQ says progress is personal and carries between single-player and multiplayer. Each player must reach a checkpoint for their own progress to count.
Can two people play on one screen?
No. The developers say local couch co-op is not supported. Plan for separate online setups.
Can PC and console players play together at launch?
Console versions are planned for 2027, after the October 2026 PC release. Crossplay is planned, but this does not confirm a PC-to-console session for the PC launch.
